New Firmware and PY64-D Dante Interface Card for Yamaha DM7 Series Digital Mixers

December 19, 2024, Shizuoka, Japan - Adding significant new features, the latest firmware update for Yamaha DM7 digital mixers is now available, alongside the new, versatile PY64-D Dante interface card. Together they add immersive functions and more, helping DM7 users to create an even wider range of bespoke live and installed sound systems.

The latest DM7 Version 1.60 firmware brings remote control to AFC Image, Yamaha’s object-based immersive system, creating efficient workflows for immersive audio experiences in the live environment. It also adds 5.1 surround panning and monitoring to the DM7’s Broadcast package expansion.

Through close collaboration with Digital Audio Labs, the latest firmware has also brought support for Livemix personal monitor systems while, in a first for Yamaha digital mixers, DM7 V1.60 firmware allows users to save the console file to either a USB memory stick or to the console's internal storage. This adds extra flexibility for data backup.

Meanwhile, the new firmware includes includes a Bus Lock function for Yamaha’s MonitorMix application when used with DM7 series consoles. This adds security, allowing users to select which buses MonitorMix is allowed to connect to, reducing the risk of accidental connection to the wrong ones.

Announced in November, the new PY64-D card expands the Dante connection on DM7 series mixers with sample rate converter (SRC) functions, ensuring straightforward connections for complex systems, including devices using different sampling frequencies. SRC ON and OFF modes are switched from the DM7 console.

Providing 64in/out at 96kHz, the PY64-D features primary and secondary connectors for redundancy, with daisy chain connections also supported.

“We are delighted that so many users are harnessing the advanced but intuitive features of the compact DM7 series. The new V1.60 firmware and PY64-D interface card make it an even more powerful and flexible solution for many different live and installed sound applications,” says Thomas Hemery, Senior General Manager at Yamaha’s Professional Solutions Division.
